The minutes immediately after a road accident — often called the "golden hour" — matter enormously. Calm, correct first aid can keep a person stable until trained help arrives. This is general guidance, not a substitute for professional emergency care.
1. Make the scene safe
Protect yourself first. Switch on hazard lights, move to a safe spot if possible, and be aware of traffic before approaching anyone.
2. Call for help
Call our emergency number immediately and share the exact location and number of people injured. The sooner we know, the faster the trauma team and ICU can prepare.
3. Do not move a seriously injured person unnecessarily
If a head, neck or spine injury is possible, keep the person still and support the head in line with the body — unless there is immediate danger such as fire.
4. Control heavy bleeding
- Press firmly on the wound with a clean cloth.
- Keep pressing; add more cloth on top rather than removing it.
- Raise the injured limb if there is no obvious fracture.
5. Keep checking breathing and reassure
Talk to the person, keep them warm, and watch their breathing until help arrives. Avoid giving food or water.
In an emergency, call us right away — our Advanced Trauma Care Unit and ICU are open 24×7.
